Cloak and Dagger: Lost and Found
While many think the name Freeform was a bad change from the previous ABC Family, the cable channel has proven itself in maintaining its image with quality programming. Freeform was smart to dip into the Marvel waters. Cloak is otherwise known as Tyrone Johnson played by Aubrey Joseph. Dagger is aka Tandy Bowen played by Olivia Holt. These names are retained from the comic book series, including Cloak being an African-American boy and Dagger a white girl. The interracial aspect was already unique when they first appeared as guests in a Spider-Man series of comic books. Popularity of the characters led to them having a brief comic book series, yet ultimately appearing as guests in many other Marvel comic book tales.

CLOAK AND DAGGER #1 - Digital Comic Launch Trailer
Joseph and Holt will return to portray Cloak and Dagger in the third season of the television series Runaways in a crossover episode. He recounted, "They came in the night, when all was silent and my mind was blank. They came completely conceived as to their powers and attributes, their origin and motivation. They embodied between them all that fear and misery, hunger and longing that had haunted me on Ellis Island. Ed Hannigan , Mantlo's artist collaborator on Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man , recalled that he and Mantlo jointly came up with the characters' visual design: "Bill had a short page or two synopsis of the story that he showed me, and we discussed what the characters would look like. He gave me a lot of leeway, but it was fairly obvious that Cloak would be black and have a big 'animated' black cloak and Dagger would be white with a skintight leotard-type thing.
Tandy and Tyrone's powers took the spotlight during episode 7, "Lotus Eaters," so now's the perfect time to look back at the source material for clues about what's next. The clip is an introduction to Cloak and Dagger's origins from the comic books; quite different from the TV series. In the original pages written by Bill Mantlo and drawn by Ed Hannigan, Tandy and Tyrone were kidnapped by a mad scientist in New York City who used runaway children to test out synthetic heroin. The experience left them with strange abilities. Tandy could summon a dagger of light and Tyrone could surround himself and others in darkness, giving him an array of abilities including teleportation. Tandy, angry with her unavailable supermodel mother, ran away from Ohio. Tyrone, suffering from a speech impediment and the loss of his brother, ran from Boston.
